Reflective Narrow Fabrics

To meet your needs for narrow fabrics  – including laminated ribbon, webbing, or other substrates – Metlon can supply the substrates, or work with those you manufacture or purchase elsewhere. Call for assistance in determining and evaluating products for your specific use, or for those that might have additional properties that enhance your end product’s endurance or performance.

Narrow Fabrics

The Narrow Fabrics Institute (NFI) defines narrow fabrics as textiles that are no more than 12 inches (300mm) in width and are made by weaving, knitting or braiding fibers or yarns with an edge to prevent unraveling. 

Laminated Ribbons

Metlon can supply Polyester Grosgrain ribbons in many widths with 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material laminated to the surface of the ribbon.

Standard ribbon sizes are 3/8”, 5/8”, 7/8”, 1-1/2”, 2-1/4”, and 3”.  We have access to more than 70 standard colors in these sizes.  Minimum order is 500 yards of a particular size.  Different colors can be combined to meet the 500 yard minimum.

Stock widths of   3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material No. 8712 Silver Transfer Film that can be laminated to the above ribbons are 1/4”, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1”, 1-1/2”, and 2”.  Other widths are available but will require minimums higher than the 500 yards for the standard sizes.

Ribbons can be laminated with 1-3 stripes of reflective material. Typical delivery for the above laminated ribbons is 3-4 weeks from receipt of order.

Special Order Ribbons

We can supply laminated ribbons in widths other than those listed above, such as 2-1/2” wide.  Special order sizes will require minimums of 15,000 to 20,000 yards.  Deliveries on special orders run from 5-10 weeks due to delivery on the ribbon.  We can usually start making weekly partial shipments of 2,000 yards or more within approximately 5 weeks.

Reflective Laminated to Your Ribbon, Webbing, or Other Substrates

Do you already have a source for your own Ribbon, Webbing, or Other Substrates, or do you make any of these narrow fabrics?  If so, we can apply the reflective material to it for you. We can laminate any of the stock widths of   3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material No. 8712 Silver Transfer Film listed above to your substrates.

Note: The substrates need to be polyester, cotton, or polyester/cotton blends.  The adhesive on the reflective material is not compatible with nylon, polypropylene, and other substrates not listed above.

Minimum order is 500 yards. Typical delivery is 3-4 weeks.

Special Reflective Material

In addition to  the 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material No. 8712 Silver Transfer Film, there are other reflective materials available that have additional characteristics, such as the ability to stand up to industrial wash applications, and flame resistant material.  These materials are not stock items and may require an order of 600 yards or more, depending on the material and size.
